Distinguished Chair of the UNCOPUOS, Mr. Omran Sharaf,

Distinguished Director Frant Gwo, Mr. Wang Hongwei, and Mr. Gong Ge'er,

Distinguished delegates, ladies and gentlemen,

Thank you for joining us to this side event of the 66th Session of the UNCOPUOS organized by the Chinese Mission, and welcome China Film Group Corporation and the team of "The Wandering Earth II" at the VIC.

Our planet is the home of all people, outer space is the common territory of mankind, and space exploration is a shared endeavor of humanity. Ocean of stars offers unlimited space for the dreams, development and progress that can be made by humankind. Today, we are glad to bring to you a Chinese science fiction movie of outer space – "The Wandering Earth II." This movie, which has achieved tremendous success worldwide with a box office revenue of 580 million US dollars to date, tells the story of a life-and-death crisis faced by humanity on Earth. It portrays a united world, where countries join forces and mobilize all of our space technologies and capabilities to drive the Earth towards a new common future.

The Chinese representative to the General Assembly in this movie naturally caught my personal attention. He said, "In the vast universe, the Earth is just a small dot, yet it is everything to us." The story of The Wandering Earth further illustrates that the destiny of humanity is interconnected, and in face of global challenges, no country or nation can survive alone. Building a community with a shared future for mankind is the only way to address common risks and challenges and overcome global problems. The scenes in the movie of the United Nations General Assembly should be so familiar to many of us. Representatives from all countries work in solidarity to adopt and advance the "Wandering Earth Plan". It is a telling story of the spirit of true multilateralism.

The "Wandering Earth" film series showcases the human sentiment behind China's vigorous development of space technology and our active promotion of international cooperation in outer space. Since ancient times, the Chinese people has always had a curiosity and fascination with the vast universe. Thousands of years later, the Chang’e lunar exploration project is steadily progressing; the Tianwen-1 spacecraft successfully landed on Mars; the Beidou Navigation Satellite System has completed global networking, and the China Space Station is fully operational. China will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, jointly explore the mysteries of the universe, and promote the benefits of space technology for people of all countries. China advocates for nations to work together to respect and promote the equal right of all countries to the peaceful uses of outer space, to actively address space safety challenges, and to ensure the peaceful, secure, and sustainable use of outer space.

The "Wandering Earth" film series is a gift from the Chinese film makers to the world for the cause of international and multilateral space development. It also provides timely inspiration for our era. In the face of a complex international situation, building a safer and more prosperous world is the strong desire of peoples across the globe. It is the shared responsibility of all governments, and the rightful direction of progress. Guided by President Xi Jinping's Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative, China commits itself to cooperating with other countries worldwide to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind in the field of outer space. Together, let us propel human civilization towards the vast expanse of the universe.

Thank you!
