On October 12, 2009, the new Chinese Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna, Mr. Hu Xiaodi, made a courtesy call on Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Discussion on the future role of the IAEA and measures to further strengthen the cooperation between China and the Agency was conducted. Both sides also exchanged views on the latest situation of the DPRK and Iranian nuclear issues, stressing that peaceful negotiations are the best way to resolve the relevant nuclear issue. Before the meeting, Ambassador Hu delivered to Dr. ElBaradei his credential issued by the Chinese government.
